Teams Info for Coaches and Managers

CHECK LIST to review before the tournament for coaches & managers
 

  • Registration: Did you register you team and pay the $400 deposit (non refundable) as the entrance fee before April 10th, 2009 required to hold your spot?

  • Did you make a $599 final payment to confirm your spot due May 20th, 2009? Deposit & final payments are non refundable.

  • Click here to learn more tournament format, tournament features, and other pertinent info about this hockey festival and read carefully.

  • Accommodation: Did you book your hotel rooms! All teams should stay at an authorized Kingston International Youth Hockey Festival hotel as they are key supporters of this event. Thank you in advance for your collaboration.

  • Rules. Coach and team manager: Did you read and print the tournament hockey rules before the tournament. Contact us if you have any questions? 

  • Air Travel. Please inform parents and players that they need to bring passports along if they fly from any country to Canada.

  • Team roster for the Hockey program and game sheet - due June 1th, 2009.

  • Please submit a final roster 10 days before the start of the first tournament game.

  • Do you have adequate directions to the Rink in Kingston, On, Canada?

  • Inform your players that neck guards and mouth guards are required from all players during the tournament.

  • Please note that a player must participate in at least 1 game during the preliminary round games of the tournament to be eligible for the playoff round.

  • All teams must arrange for their own insurance. Please forward insurance confirmation by email

  • Please verify that any player that you invite may only play for a single team at one specific level (1998, for example) during the tournament.

  • Did you inform all parents and players about the location, date of the tournament, and schedule before the tourney?

  • Did you check the final schedule carefully a few days before coming to this Hockey Festival in case of last minute changes?

  • Check the Playoff format for your level and the rules for Playoff Tie Games.

  • Games may start at 7:45am. Always be at the rink 45 minutes before the game in case we need to start a game earlier.

CODE of ETHICS for MANAGERS and COACHES during this HOCKEY FESTIVAL                              UP

The direction of Kingston International Youth Hockey Festival invites managers and coaches to read the following ethics rules that will encourage proper conduct and demonstrate good behavior to hockey prospects that you are coaching in this tournament.   

  • Encourage and support players and tournament officials with a positive and friendly attitude. Abusive language will not be tolerated.

  • Promote good sportsmanship at all time during the tournament.

  • Respect referees’ calls and provide positive support during games.

  • Treat everyone fairly within the context of his or her role in the activity, regardless of gender, place of origin, race, and sexual orientation.

  • Treat all players fairly and equally. This does not mean equal playing time. It means that

    • each player is as important as the next to the coach and will be helped to improve their skills

    • in "game situations", all players will be treated fairly so that each player shall be given ample opportunity to contribute during each tournament

    • in the case of misconduct the discipline will be based solely on the act and not on the player’s ability

  • Do not “scream or holler” at officials and players during the game as the coach lead by example in dedication to good sportsmanship and fair play.

  • Keep lines of communication OPEN between players, parents and the direction of the Kingston International Youth Hockey Festival.

  • Remember that all prospects are looking to you for guidance.

  • Be responsible for the safety and health of the players while playing the game during the entire tournament, and also be responsible for the players while being in the dressing room, Any physical damage to the dressing room will be charged to the team concerned.

  • Refrain from drinking alcohol or other inappropriate behavior while in the presence of minor-aged players.

Any misconduct in violation of this code of ethics during this hockey festival could enforce a suspension of the parties in default.

The direction of the Kingston International Youth Hockey Festival encourage managers and coaches to read the Code of Conduct outlined by the Canadian Professional Coaches Association, or The American Hockey Coaches Association

During this hockey festival, we encourage coaching staff and team managers to present a proper code of conduct for all games and activities taking place and to be respectful of their peer coaches. Thanks for your collaboration.
